Anthropic is in talks to acquire Israeli AI infrastructure startup Decart at a valuation of approximately $6 billion, according to reports from Bloomberg and Reuters, confirming earlier reporting from Calcalist that placed the valuation range between $6 billion and $7 billion. Anthropic declined to comment, and Decart did not respond to requests for comment. The talks are described as early-stage and could still fall apart.

Decart develops AI infrastructure and optimization technology designed to improve performance across a wide range of chip architectures. The company also builds its own AI models, including Lucy, which edits live video in real time, and Oasis, which generates simulated environments for training robotics and autonomous driving systems. Reuters reported that Decart’s team could be integrated into Anthropic’s inference and performance organization if a transaction is completed.

For Anthropic, the acquisition would address a growing priority across the AI industry: extracting more performance from expensive computing infrastructure at lower cost. The company has been moving aggressively to expand compute capacity and recently began recruiting engineers to work on custom chips and efficiency improvements for Claude. Decart’s ability to generate video at significantly lower costs than competing systems has made its technology attractive to companies managing high generative AI compute expenses.

Founded in 2023 by Dean Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, both veterans of Israeli intelligence Unit 8200, Decart employs approximately 100 people. The company raised a $300 million round in May led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor, at a roughly $4 billion valuation. A transaction at $6 billion would represent a substantial premium to that figure just three months later.

Nvidia had previously held advanced acquisition talks with Decart before higher offers emerged. Amazon, Nebius, and SpaceX were also identified as interested parties, though Elon Musk has since confirmed SpaceX will not proceed with an acquisition.
