Key Notes

  • Fireflies CEO Krish Ramineni says the company will begin announcing 10 new products next week as it expands beyond meeting notes.
  • Its existing lineup already includes dictation, meeting search and connections that bring transcripts into other AI assistants.
  • The teaser promises free capabilities but leaves the forthcoming products, usage limits and plan eligibility unspecified.

Fireflies plans to begin announcing 10 new products next week, with CEO Krish Ramineni promising free tools as the AI meeting assistant expands into more areas of workplace software.

Ramineni framed the move as a response to startups entering the AI note-taking market. “So we decided to enter theirs,” he wrote in a LinkedIn post. He claimed some startups had raised more than $100 million to build capabilities Fireflies would offer free, without naming those companies or identifying the products in the teaser.

From Meeting Notes to More of the Working Day

Fireflies already has a broader role than recording calls. Its product documentation describes a service that transcribes and summarizes meetings, extracts action items and lets teams search past conversations. It supports platforms including Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, alongside desktop and mobile recording. Those conversations give the company a starting point for tools that help users act on what was discussed.

One example of that expansion is already visible. The company’s Fireflies Talk page advertises dictation across desktop, iPhone and Android, with free, unlimited use on every plan. Users can dictate text into the apps where they work rather than buying a separate dictation subscription. Ramineni’s post did not say whether Talk forms part of the forthcoming series of announcements.

Fireflies also offers API access and MCP connections that bring transcripts, summaries and action items into other software. Its documentation describes using meeting data with assistants such as Claude and Cursor, as well as sending updates when transcription or summarization finishes. That creates a route from a recorded conversation into a wider workflow, with meeting context available to the tools doing the next task.

The strategic opportunity is to sell more of that workflow to customers already using Fireflies. A team that trusts a service to capture its meetings may be willing to try related tools without adopting another vendor. The push comes as other companies expand their workplace assistants: Google’s Gemini agent, for example, brings task delegation and subagents into enterprise work. Fireflies is approaching that competition from its existing meeting-data business.

The Free Offer Will Depend on the Details

Fireflies currently combines free and paid access. Its pricing page lists a free tier with transcription, limited AI summaries and 400 minutes of storage per team. Pro starts at $10 per seat per month when billed annually. Those existing terms provide context for the free-product promise, while the teaser leaves the new tools’ individual limits and plan eligibility unspecified.

For competing AI startups, the commercial question is how much customers will pay for a standalone tool when similar functions become available within software they already use. Fireflies has made its competitive intent clear; the forthcoming product details will show how far that ambition extends. For customers, the practical test will be whether the new tools carry useful meeting context into everyday work and reduce the effort of moving between separate applications.
