Microsoft is restructuring its Copilot organization by combining engineering teams across consumer and enterprise products, aiming to improve adoption of its AI assistant platform.
The company appointed Jacob Andreou as executive vice president to lead the unified Copilot experience, reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella. The move allows Mustafa Suleyman to focus on developing next-generation AI models under Microsoft’s Superintelligence initiative.
Despite heavy investment, Copilot adoption has lagged competitors. The assistant recorded about 6 million daily active users in December, compared with significantly higher usage for rival platforms from OpenAI and Google.
Microsoft said the restructuring will support development of more efficient and enterprise-focused AI models while reducing costs and improving performance. The company continues to integrate external models alongside its own systems, as it competes to deliver scalable AI products across productivity software, search, and cloud services.
