Human-Centered AI

Human-centered AI is an approach that begins with the people and communities affected by an artificial intelligence system. It asks whether the technology solves a genuine need, supports human agency, accommodates diverse users, and provides meaningful control or recourse when something goes wrong. Development typically includes participatory research, usability testing, impact assessment, accessibility work, transparent communication, and ongoing evaluation in the real setting of use. The goal is not merely a friendly interface: human-centered design examines incentives, labor, power, privacy, and institutional consequences. An accurate model can still be poorly designed if its workflow confuses users or shifts risk onto those with little influence.
