Foxconn could capture half of the global AI server market within a couple of years, Chairman Young Liu told CNBC in an interview. He put its current share at around 40% and said it could reach roughly 45% next year.
Liu said production capacity was fully booked for at least the next 18 months. Demand has largely come from AI model developers and cloud providers, while wider adoption by governments and enterprises could provide another source of infrastructure demand.
He expects AI infrastructure to generate 60% to 65% of Foxconn’s revenue within three to five years, excluding edge AI devices. The forecast points to a larger role for servers, racks, data centers and computing services at the electronics manufacturer.
U.S. expansion will initially emphasize higher-margin AI server racks and data-center equipment because of manufacturing costs, Liu said. The plans build on Foxconn’s earlier manufacturing partnership with OpenAI, although Liu also warned against overinvestment.
Foxconn’s own October 26 company update describes a push beyond hardware into AI-as-a-Service through subsidiary Visionbay.ai. It says the service uses Nvidia-certified systems for enterprises and governments across Asia, complementing the server manufacturing business.
