Wake Word Detection - Page 4

Wake word detection is the process of recognizing a short spoken phrase that activates a voice-controlled system. A compact audio model continuously analyzes brief sound windows and estimates whether the chosen phrase, such as a device name, is present. Many systems perform this first step locally to reduce latency and avoid sending all ambient audio to a server. Accuracy must balance missed activations against false triggers caused by television, background conversation, accents, or similar-sounding words. Reliable deployment requires diverse speech data, noise testing, privacy controls, clear microphone indicators, and a separate confirmation step before sensitive commands are executed.
