Canva has expanded its AI assistant capabilities, aiming to make it central to how users create and manage design workflows. The latest update allows users to generate fully editable designs using text prompts, with the assistant automatically selecting and coordinating tools to produce multiple options.
The system builds designs using layers, enabling users to fine-tune elements after generation rather than working with static outputs. Canva is also adding integrations with tools such as Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, and Zoom, allowing the assistant to pull context from emails, files, and meetings. New features include web research capabilities and task scheduling, where users can automate recurring workflows that generate draft outputs for review.
The update comes amid intensifying competition in AI-powered creative tools. Rivals such as Adobe and Figma are also investing in agentic systems that can orchestrate multi-step creative tasks. Canva is positioning itself as the platform where users complete the final stages of editing, collaboration, and publishing.
The company also reported strong enterprise momentum, with that segment growing 100% year over year. Improvements to its AI models include faster and more cost-efficient image and video generation, as Canva prepares for a broader rollout of its AI 2.0 features in the coming weeks.
