Adobe has introduced Firefly AI Assistant, a new agentic tool designed to automate creative workflows across its suite of applications, including Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, and Lightroom. The assistant, previously previewed as Project Moonlight, will enter public beta in the coming weeks as Adobe expands its push into AI-powered productivity.
The Firefly AI Assistant allows users to describe tasks using natural language prompts, then orchestrates actions across multiple apps to complete them. It can suggest edits, execute multi-step workflows, and provide contextual controls such as sliders and buttons tailored to specific projects. For example, users editing images can adjust scene elements dynamically, while predefined “skills” enable tasks like resizing and optimizing content for social media platforms.
Adobe says the assistant is designed to remain interactive, allowing users to intervene or refine outputs at any stage. Over time, it can adapt to individual preferences, improving recommendations and automation. The system also integrates with Firefly’s broader ecosystem, including access to third-party AI models and Adobe’s stock content library.
The launch comes as competitors such as Canva and Figma explore similar agent-based workflows. Adobe is positioning its advantage in the integration of AI across its established creative tools, aiming to reduce complexity for users managing multiple applications.
In parallel, Adobe is adding new features to Firefly, including enhanced audio controls for video editing and expanded model support, as it continues to evolve its AI-driven creative platform.
