OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Astra, beginning with enterprise customers enrolled in its Daybreak Access Program and API access, with rollout to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise ChatGPT plans to follow in the coming days.
The release comes with strict per-plan usage caps. Pro subscribers on the $200 tier receive 200 GPT-6 messages per week in Chat, with a shared daily limit of 200 messages across GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. The $100 Pro tier receives 50 messages per week from a single shared allowance covering both GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. Business Standard plans include 15 messages per month and Business Premium plans include 50 messages per week, each drawing from a shared allowance across both top-tier models. Plus subscribers will not have access to GPT-6 Astra in Chat and can only use the model through Codex.
Simultaneously, OpenAI is rolling out GPT-5.6 Sol to eligible paid plans alongside a new reasoning slider that allows users to select processing depth ranging from Instant to Extra High. GPT-5.6 Luna is becoming the default model for Free and Go users and powers the Think feature on those tiers. GPT-5.6 Sol Pro is available as the highest-capability option within the 5.6 family for difficult tasks and longer-running workflows.
GPT-6 Astra is positioned as OpenAI’s most capable model to date, designed for complex work across coding, cybersecurity, scientific research, and computer use. The model includes enhanced safeguards around high-risk biological and cybersecurity requests, which may affect some legitimate use cases. When a Pro plan’s GPT-6 weekly allowance is exhausted, ChatGPT automatically falls back to GPT-5.6 Sol at Medium reasoning level.
