Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its new flagship AI model for complex software engineering, enterprise work and cybersecurity. The rollout begins with selected security partners while Google prepares broader availability.
Google reports 77.9% on DeepSWE v1.1 and 91.9% on Vibe Code Bench, ahead of GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 in its comparison table. Results vary by task: Astra retains the lead on FrontierSWE v2, so Argon’s strong showing does not amount to a clean sweep.
Argon expands the output limit from 64,000 to one million tokens, supporting longer reasoning and multistep work. Google also reports leading results in long-context reasoning and professional tasks across finance and law, detailed in our launch coverage.
Initial access runs through the Fairwind Program for vetted cyber defenders. Google plans to widen availability after further testing, starting with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers, but has not announced a firm public release date.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin has described returning from retirement to work on Gemini. Judging by these early results, he and the DeepMind team have been cooking up something impressive in Google’s AI kitchen.
