Limited memory is one of the core types of artificial intelligence, referring to systems that can use data from the recent past to make decisions and improve performance. Unlike reactive machines, which rely solely on present inputs, limited memory AI can learn from historical information such as previous interactions, stored data, or observations. This capability allows models like self-driving car systems and recommendation engines to adapt their behavior based on context and experience. The memory, however, is not permanent – AI systems only retain relevant information for a short period to inform immediate tasks. Limited memory represents a key step toward more advanced, context-aware AI that balances learning ability with efficiency.
