Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has declared that artificial general intelligence has arrived, citing the launch of OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra as a defining milestone. Huang made the statement in a post on X, congratulating OpenAI on the release and noting the model was trained using more than 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72 systems.

OpenAI has described Astra as its most intelligent and aligned system to date, with leading benchmark performance across computer use, software engineering, cybersecurity, science, and professional work. The model scored 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3, and achieved a perfect 100% score on ExploitBench. OpenAI President Greg Brockman has also suggested the release could mark the beginning of the AGI era, though the term has no universally accepted technical definition across the research community.

Huang noted that the Astra release represents roughly four years of progress from the original ChatGPT launch and added that another 400,000 Nvidia GPUs are coming online to support continued AI infrastructure expansion.

The declaration marks a significant moment in how the AI industry publicly frames its progress. While researchers and policymakers continue to debate the precise meaning of AGI, statements from figures of Huang’s standing reflect the degree to which frontier model capabilities have accelerated. Astra’s benchmark results, particularly its perfect score on ExploitBench, a measure of autonomous cybersecurity capability, are likely to intensify existing discussions around AI safety, deployment protocols, and the pace of capability development at the frontier.
