WordPress has introduced my.WordPress.net, a browser-based version of its content management system designed to run entirely within a user’s web browser. The platform removes the need for hosting, account creation, or domain setup, allowing users to launch a personal WordPress environment instantly.
The service is built on WordPress Playground, a technology that previously powered temporary WordPress demos. With my.WordPress.net, the system becomes a persistent workspace where users can write, experiment with plugins and themes, and organize projects without publishing content to the public internet.
Each instance runs locally in the browser and stores data on the user’s device, with approximately 100 MB of initial storage capacity. Because environments remain private by default, WordPress positions the platform as a space for drafting, learning, or testing ideas before deployment to a public site.
The launch also includes an App Catalog featuring preconfigured tools such as personal CRM systems, RSS readers, and AI-enabled knowledge bases. These tools aim to expand WordPress beyond website publishing into a flexible workspace for personal projects and experimentation.
The launch follows recent rollout of a built-in AI assistant on WordPress.com that allows site owners to edit layouts, content, and images using natural language commands.
