Netflix has acquired InterPositive, a filmmaking technology startup founded by Ben Affleck that develops AI-powered tools for movie production. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2022, InterPositive created an AI model designed to understand visual continuity and editorial logic in filmmaking. The system aims to assist production teams in managing challenges such as missing shots or lighting inconsistencies while preserving cinematic rules and creative intent.
Netflix said the acquisition reflects a broader industry shift toward integrating artificial intelligence into content creation. Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria emphasized that the technology is intended to support artists rather than replace writers, directors, and actors.
Affleck will join Netflix as a senior advisor following the deal. The move comes as technology companies deepen engagement with Hollywood over generative AI. OpenAI recently hired former Instagram partnerships executive Charles Porch to strengthen relationships with filmmakers and creative studios, aiming to build trust around the responsible use of AI in film and media production.
