Google is rolling out a series of updates to Google TV, adding AI-powered creative tools and a new short-form video experience. The updates aim to transform the TV into both a content hub and a shared creative space, powered by Google’s Gemini AI ecosystem.
Among the key additions are image and video generation features integrated directly into the TV interface. Tools such as Nano Banana allow users to edit or reimagine photos using voice prompts, while Veo enables the creation of short videos from text descriptions or existing images. These features are launching first on Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs in the U.S., signaling Google’s push to bring generative AI into the living room.
The update also enhances integration with Google Photos. Users can search their photo libraries using voice commands, apply artistic transformations through a Remix feature, and display albums as dynamic slideshows on their TV screens. These capabilities aim to make personal media more accessible and interactive on larger displays.
In addition to creation tools, Google TV will introduce a “Short videos for you” row on the home screen, starting with YouTube Shorts. The feature reflects growing demand for bite-sized content and expands YouTube’s presence within the TV interface.
The rollout highlights Google’s broader strategy to integrate AI-driven creativity and discovery across devices, positioning TVs as interactive platforms rather than passive viewing screens.
