Google introduced Nano Banana Pro on Thursday, expanding its AI image editing and generation capabilities just days after unveiling the Gemini 3 Pro model. The new tool builds on the original Nano Banana, which went viral for turning user photos into detailed 3D figurines and significantly boosting the Gemini app’s user numbers.
Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs and Gemini, said Nano Banana Pro offers broader functionality, including creating infographics, assembling slide decks, and maintaining visual consistency across up to 14 images or five characters. Internal testers have experimented with unconventional inputs such as code snippets and résumés to generate visual summaries. Woodward noted that the tool’s ability to transform nonvisual information into clear graphics is resonating with early users.
Nano Banana Pro is available in the Gemini app with limited free quotas and is integrated into Google’s NotebookLM, as well as its developer, enterprise, and advertising products. Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra tiers will also find the feature inside Search’s AI Mode.
