MSCI has launched a new artificial intelligence connectivity framework, allowing clients to access its investment data and analytics through major AI platforms, including integrations with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude.
The new framework enables engagement with MSCI’s data either via its cloud-based MSCI ONE platform or through dedicated AI connectors, including the MSCI app within ChatGPT and a connector built for Claude.
Introducing IndexAI Insights
The first product built on the framework is MSCI IndexAI Insights, a conversational AI interface that combines MSCI’s proprietary index data with large language models (LLMs). The tool allows clients to ask plain-language questions about index performance, constituent exposure, sector weightings, and methodologies, streamlining workflows that traditionally required multiple dashboards and technical queries.
By embedding its datasets into conversational AI environments, MSCI aims to meet clients where they already work, enabling faster and more intuitive access to analytics.
Expanding AI Across Investment Workflows
The company described this launch as the first in a broader series of AI-enabled offerings. Future extensions are planned across additional product lines, including Private Assets, where AI tools are expected to support due diligence, underwriting, analytics, and reporting throughout the investment lifecycle.
Alvise Munari, MSCI’s Chief Product Officer, called the announcement “a key step” in scaling AI capabilities across the firm’s solutions set. He emphasized that secure connectivity to leading AI services allows clients to access MSCI insights directly within their preferred workflows.
As financial institutions increasingly integrate AI into research and portfolio management processes, MSCI’s move reflects a growing industry trend: combining trusted proprietary data with generative AI interfaces to enhance speed, accessibility, and decision-making precision.
