Amazon is expanding its AI-powered digital assistant, now branded Alexa+, to the web with the launch of Alexa.com. The rollout, announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas, is available to Early Access customers and allows users to interact with Alexa+ much like other AI chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

The company aims to make Alexa+ accessible beyond Echo devices, which have sold more than 600 million units worldwide, enabling users to access the assistant on phones and web browsers. Amazon also updated its Alexa mobile app, featuring a more agent-focused interface that emphasizes chat-based interactions over traditional functions.

Online Features and Family Integration

Alexa.com enables users to perform common tasks such as exploring topics, creating content, and planning trips. Amazon emphasizes family-focused functionality, allowing users to manage calendars, to-do lists, grocery orders through Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods, recipe libraries, and personalized entertainment recommendations. The platform also maintains smart home controls, a core feature from Alexa’s original design.

Following the recent announcement, Alexa+ integrates with services including Angi, Expedia, Square, Yelp, Fodor’s, OpenTable, Suno, Ticketmaster, Thumbtack, and Uber. A navigation sidebar provides quick access to frequently used features, such as adjusting the thermostat, checking calendars, and managing shopping lists. Users can also upload personal documents, emails, and calendars for Alexa+ to serve as a centralized home assistant, with information viewable on Echo Show devices.

Usage and Adoption

Daniel Rausch, VP of Alexa and Echo at Amazon, noted that 76% of Alexa+ usage focuses on tasks unique to the assistant, such as cooking assistance with personal recipe photos. Users are engaging with Alexa+ two to three times more frequently than the original Alexa, with shopping, recipes, and smart home control all seeing significant increases in usage. Early Access requires an Amazon account, and Alexa.com is gradually rolling out to existing Early Access users.

Amazon reports that Alexa+ supports 97% of Alexa devices and carries forward the tens of thousands of services and integrations from the original assistant. While some online complaints highlight errors in Alexa+, Rausch emphasized that opt-outs are minimal and overall adoption remains strong. It also aligns with other CES 2026 announcements, including Samsung’s unveiling of its AI-powered home, entertainment, and health ecosystem under the “Companion to AI Living” vision, which highlights connected experiences across TVs, appliances, and health devices.
