The company has committed $33 billion to a series of neocloud deals, including a $19.4 billion agreement with Nebius, to guarantee access to advanced GPUs. The strategy is designed to protect Microsoft’s AI roadmap against capacity constraints and ensure it can continue scaling models like GPT-powered assistants and enterprise AI systems.
The Nebius partnership will provide Microsoft with more than 100,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs, directly supporting internal research and customer-facing AI tools. By diversifying through neocloud partners, Microsoft can expand compute without building every new data center itself — a process that has become increasingly expensive and energy intensive.
