Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital is joining Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and U.S. investor Coatue in a $25 billion funding round for AI startup Anthropic, according to the Financial Times. The round would value Anthropic, maker of the Claude chatbot, at $350 billion.
GIC and Coatue are reportedly contributing $1.5 billion each. Last year, Anthropic secured commitments of up to $15 billion from Microsoft and Nvidia. The startup previously raised $13 billion in a Series F round, valuing it at $183 billion.
The fundraising reflects growing enterprise adoption of AI and rising global tech spending, even amid concerns of a potential AI valuation bubble. Sequoia, founded in 1972, has a history of early investments in tech giants including Google, Apple, Cisco, and YouTube.
Anthropic’s expansion comes alongside the company’s broader push into experimental AI tools through its Labs organization, signaling continued investment in innovative Claude-based products.
