Elon Musk stated that he is not aware of any “naked underage images” generated by xAI’s AI tool Grok, as the platform faces global scrutiny. Musk emphasized that Grok only generates content upon user request and is programmed to comply with local laws.

The comments follow calls from U.S. senators, advocacy groups, and tech watchdogs for Apple and Google to remove X and its built-in AI from app stores, citing the spread of nonconsensual sexual images. Regulatory action is underway in multiple countries. The UK plans to criminalize the creation of such content, and its communications regulator Ofcom is investigating Grok.

X recently limited Grok’s public ability to generate or edit images, but experts note that restrictions, including paywalls, may not fully prevent access to explicit outputs. Malaysia and Indonesia have blocked Grok and are pursuing legal action, alleging failures to prevent harmful content. Musk reiterated that users producing illegal content would face the same consequences as if they uploaded it directly.
