Google and OpenAI have reduced generation limits for their popular AI tools as user demand surges. OpenAI’s Sora platform now allows free users six video generations per day, according to Bill Peebles, who leads the project. He noted that the platform’s GPUs are under heavy strain and that additional generations can be purchased as needed. Limits for ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers remain unchanged.
Similarly, Google’s Nano Banana Pro has lowered free user access from three images per day to two. The platform also appears to be restricting free users’ access to Gemini 3 Pro. The company noted that limits may change frequently and without notice, a standard measure following high-demand launches.
These adjustments reflect the increasing pressure on AI infrastructure and the platforms’ strategies to balance resource constraints with monetization. Users looking to experiment over the holiday period may need to plan their usage or consider paid tiers to bypass restrictions.
