CoinMarketCap has launched MCP support, enabling AI agents to access real-time cryptocurrency data through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard developed by Anthropic. The integration allows models such as Claude and ChatGPT to connect directly to live market feeds and analytics tools.
AI agents are getting smarter, but they still need market context.
Today, we’re launching 4 AI Agent-focused products:

The MCP offering provides access to more than 36 million cryptocurrencies, including real-time pricing, technical indicators such as SMA, EMA, MACD, and RSI, and global metrics like the fear and greed index across spot and derivatives markets. The system is compatible with Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, and other MCP-enabled clients.
CoinMarketCap also introduced x402, a lightweight pay-per-request standard that enables automated crypto data access without API keys or subscriptions. Payments are processed through the Base network, supporting fully autonomous agent workflows.
In parallel, the company released skills packages for Claude Code and Openclaw agents, enabling structured crypto analytics, research, and API interactions. Reacting to the development, Changpeng Zhao wrote on X that “it seems soon we will be working for agents, not the other way around,” underscoring growing momentum behind autonomous financial AI systems.
