The Trump administration announced the creation of the U.S. Tech Force, a 1,000-person engineering and technology corps focused on AI infrastructure and other high-impact projects across federal agencies. Participants will serve two-year terms, collaborating with teams that report directly to agency leaders and working alongside private sector partners such as Amazon Web Services, Apple, Google Public Sector, Dell, Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI, Oracle, Palantir, and Salesforce.

The initiative was unveiled shortly after President Trump signed an executive order establishing a national AI policy framework, signaling the administration’s priority on AI development and reducing state-level regulation. Tech Force members will work on AI implementation, application development, data modernization, and digital service delivery. Annual salaries are expected to range from $150,000 to $200,000, plus benefits.

Upon completing their terms, participants may pursue full-time roles with the private partners, who can also nominate their employees for government service stints. Scott Kupor, director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, said the program aims to “reshape the workforce to make sure we have the right talent on the right problems,” positioning the U.S. for competitive advantage in AI and technology innovation.
