Sandbar has raised $23 million in a Series A funding round to expand development of its Stream smart ring, a wearable designed for AI-powered note-taking. The round was led by Adjacent and Kindred Ventures.
The device features a built-in microphone that activates through a touch-sensitive panel, allowing users to record notes, interact with an AI assistant through a companion mobile app, and control media playback. Unlike many smart rings that focus on health tracking, the Stream ring targets productivity workflows such as capturing ideas, planning tasks, and summarizing information.
The startup was founded by former Meta Platforms employees Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong. Fahmi said early adopters are already using the device dozens of times daily for tasks including presentations, trip planning, and meeting notes.
Sandbar plans to begin shipping the device this summer and expand its software capabilities to support conversational AI interactions and agent-driven workflows. The company has raised $36 million to date and aims to grow its engineering and machine learning teams.
