Salesforce launched a new AI-powered version of Slackbot, its automated assistant within the Slack messaging platform, now generally available for Business+ and Enterprise+ customers. The upgraded agent can draft emails, schedule meetings, find information, and connect to other enterprise apps, including Microsoft Teams and Google Drive, when authorized.
Salesforce CTO Parker Harris said the next-generation Slackbot is “completely different” from prior versions, leveraging generative AI to provide a curated, agentic experience. The AI agent aims to streamline workflows by allowing employees to work across multiple platforms without leaving Slack.
The rollout follows months of internal testing, during which Slackbot became the most widely adopted internal tool, Harris noted. Salesforce sees the AI upgrade as part of a broader enterprise AI strategy designed to maintain and expand market share.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand Slackbot beyond text, adding voice functionality and internet browsing capabilities. Harris emphasized that investment in Slackbot is intended to benefit both Slack and Salesforce’s wider ecosystem, offering a more integrated, intelligent workplace assistant.
