Self-driving truck developer PlusAI said it will launch Southern Europe’s first testing program for heavy-duty autonomous trucks, expanding its partnership with Iveco Group brand IVECO.
The project will deploy two IVECO S-Way trucks equipped with PlusAI’s Level 4 autonomous driving system on a roughly 300-kilometer freight corridor between Madrid and Zaragoza. Road tests are scheduled to begin in 2026, with a safety operator onboard each vehicle. The trials will be conducted with Spanish logistics operator Sesé and the regional government of Aragon.
PlusAI, headquartered in Silicon Valley with operations across Europe and the U.S., has collaborated with Iveco for several years on joint research and vehicle validation. The program aims to demonstrate autonomous trucking performance in long-haul commercial conditions.
The company is preparing for a public listing on Nasdaq through a business combination with blank check firm Churchill Capital Corp IX, expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
Iveco is set to be delisted following Tata Motors’ agreement to acquire the company in a 3.8-billion-euro transaction.
