Berlin-based startup Mirelo has raised a $41 million seed round to expand its AI technology that adds synchronized sound effects to video. The round was led by Index Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, bringing the company’s total funding to $44 million. Mirelo develops AI models that analyze video content and generate sound effects aligned with on-screen action, addressing a growing gap in AI video generation tools that often lack audio support.

Earlier this year, the two-year-old startup released Mirelo SFX v1.5, a model designed to interpret visual cues and produce frame-accurate sound effects. The technology has drawn interest from investors focused on generative AI for games and interactive media. The funding will allow Mirelo to expand its 10-person team and accelerate research, product development, and go-to-market efforts.

Mirelo distributes its models through platforms such as Fal.ai and Replicate, with API usage expected to drive near-term revenue. The company is also developing Mirelo Studio, a workspace aimed at creators and professional users. To address copyright concerns, Mirelo trains its models on public and licensed sound libraries and is pursuing revenue-sharing agreements with artists. The company competes with larger firms, including Sony, Tencent, ElevenLabs, and Google-backed tools, but is betting that its narrow focus on sound effects will help it build a durable niche.
