Empromptu has raised a $2 million pre-seed round to help businesses build AI applications without requiring deep technical expertise. The startup was founded by Shanea Leven — who previously built developer-tool company CodeSee, acquired in 2024 — and AI researcher Sean Robinson.
Leven said her experience at CodeSee shaped Empromptu’s mission: enterprise software still demands fundamentals like security, compliance, reliability and quality, even when powered by AI. Empromptu’s platform allows users to describe what they want — such as a classification tool or generative recommendation feature — and its agentic AI system builds it automatically.
Unlike “vibe coding” tools such as Replit or Lovable, which focus on rapid prototyping, Leven positions Empromptu as a way to convert experiments into production-ready products. The service includes governance, evaluation tools and the ability to integrate directly into existing software stacks.
The funding round was led by Precursor Ventures with participation from Zeal Capital, Alumni Ventures, Founders Edge and South Loop. Empromptu will use the capital to expand its team and develop proprietary technology, including newly announced features like custom data models and “infinite memory.”
Empromptu is targeting regulated and operationally complex verticals — from hospitality to industrial services — where AI could be transformative but traditionally requires specialized development talent.
