Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturer Pegatron announced it is establishing its first U.S. factory in Texas, with completion expected by the end of March and trial production scheduled for late March or April. The facility will focus on AI server products, including systems using Nvidia chips.
Pegatron, a supplier to Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla, joins other Taiwanese manufacturers expanding in the U.S., including Foxconn, Inventec, and Wistron. The move aligns with Taiwan-U.S. trade initiatives, under which Taiwanese companies will invest $250 billion to boost production in semiconductors, energy, and AI, while tariffs on U.S. imports from Taiwan will drop to 15% from 20%.
The Texas factory marks a continued effort by Pegatron to diversify manufacturing away from China. The company already operates a maintenance base in Indiana and an office in California, and has expanded production in Southeast Asia and Mexico over recent years.
The investment reflects broader trends of Taiwanese tech firms establishing U.S. operations to support AI, semiconductors, and high-tech manufacturing, following government incentives and international trade agreements.
