Apple has acquired MotionVFX, a developer of visual effects tools and plugins used with Final Cut Pro. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2009, MotionVFX produces templates, motion graphics packages, and effects designed to enhance professional editing workflows in Final Cut Pro. Its software packages start at $29 per month and are widely used by video creators for adding advanced visual effects and design elements.
Apple said the acquisition will allow it to integrate MotionVFX technology directly into Final Cut Pro rather than relying on third-party extensions. The move is expected to strengthen Apple’s position in professional video editing as it competes with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
The deal also aligns with Apple’s broader strategy of expanding its services business, which includes subscription offerings such as iCloud and Apple Music. The company recently introduced a Creator Studio bundle that packages creative applications including Final Cut Pro into a subscription aimed at professional content creators.
