World, co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched AgentKit, a developer tool designed to verify human identity behind AI agents conducting online transactions. The system aims to address rising concerns around fraud and automation in agent-driven commerce.
AgentKit integrates with World ID, a biometric verification system based on iris scans captured by the company’s Orb device. The encrypted identity credential can be linked to AI agents, allowing websites to confirm that a verified human is authorizing automated purchasing activity.
The tool also connects with the x402 protocol, a blockchain-based payment standard developed with partners including Coinbase and Cloudflare. This enables AI agents to transact autonomously while maintaining a verifiable link to a human user.
AgentKit is currently in beta and targets developers building commerce platforms that support agent-based transactions. The launch reflects growing industry demand for safeguards as companies such as Amazon and Mastercard introduce automated purchasing systems, while protocols for machine-to-machine payments continue to expand.
