TikTok is testing a new user control designed to manage the volume of AI-generated content shown in the For You feed. The feature adds an AI-specific slider to the existing “Manage topics” section, where users can already adjust visibility for categories such as current affairs, dance, and fitness. The new setting allows users to request more or less AI-generated material, using the same multi-level scale as other topic controls.
To support the feature, TikTok is enhancing its ability to detect AI-produced content. Because visible watermarks are frequently removed by users, the company plans to introduce invisible watermarks for videos created with in-app tools, including AI Editor Pro. TikTok will also recognize content uploaded with C2PA Content Credentials, an industry standard for digital provenance. These measures aim to strengthen the platform’s identification of synthetic media as AI content becomes more common.
TikTok says the AI visibility control will roll out as a test, while invisible watermarking and broader detection improvements will launch in the coming weeks. By giving users more agency to filter synthetic content, TikTok’s new controls aim to reduce the spread of misleading or dangerous AI-created media.
