Snowflake has announced a $200 million partnership with OpenAI to integrate advanced AI models directly into its cloud data platform. The collaboration aims to help enterprises analyze large datasets, search internal documents, and automate complex workflows using natural language queries without the need for coding.

The deal expands on a prior collaboration between the two companies, making OpenAI’s models available across all major cloud providers, rather than primarily through Microsoft Azure. Snowflake emphasized that the integration preserves enterprise-level data security and governance controls while enabling faster insights.

AI Agents for Enterprise Workflows

Under the partnership, Snowflake and OpenAI will develop AI agents capable of handling sophisticated business workflows. Users will be able to query proprietary data and receive actionable answers directly, streamlining research, analytics, and internal decision-making. Early adopters of the integrated solution include Canva, the design platform, and WHOOP, a maker of fitness wearables.

The collaboration reflects a broader enterprise trend of moving beyond basic AI chatbots to fully integrated AI systems. Companies are increasingly seeking models that combine automation with oversight, allowing AI to assist with sensitive and high-value internal data.

The announcement comes amid rising competition in the data and AI market. Databricks, a key rival, recently raised $4 billion at a $134 billion valuation to fund its “Agentbricks” framework and expand its AI product suite, highlighting the growing importance of cloud-native AI tools for enterprise applications.
