Snap announced a partnership with Perplexity to bring the company’s AI-powered answer engine into Snapchat beginning in early 2026. The integration will allow Snapchat’s nearly 1 billion monthly active users to ask questions in the Chat interface and receive concise responses from verifiable sources. Perplexity will operate alongside Snapchat’s existing My AI chatbot, focusing on real-time answers and topic exploration within the app.
Under the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million over one year through a mix of cash and equity as the global rollout progresses. Snap expects revenue from the deal to begin contributing in 2026. The company highlighted Snapchat’s reach among 13- to 34-year-olds in major markets and its position as a mobile-native platform for AI services.
Snap is positioning the integration as the first step in making Snapchat a broader destination for external AI partners. Messages sent to Perplexity will support personalization features already used across the app. The announcement follows Snap’s latest quarterly results, where revenue reached $1.51 billion and Snapchat+ subscriptions exceeded 17 million.
