Particle, an AI-driven news app founded by former Twitter engineers, has introduced a Podcast Clips feature that surfaces relevant podcast excerpts alongside related news stories. The update arrives ahead of the company’s Android launch and reflects the growing role of podcasts in breaking news and commentary.
The feature uses vector embedding models to match podcast segments with specific news topics. According to Chief Executive Sara Beykpour, the system identifies where clips should begin and end, allowing users to play short excerpts or read synchronized transcripts instead of listening to full episodes. Particle uses transcription technology from ElevenLabs, while its clipping logic is developed in-house.
Podcast Clips also appear on entity pages, enabling users to view podcast appearances by public figures such as Sam Altman. The launch highlights how AI tools are reshaping news consumption, as publishers and platforms increasingly rely on machine learning to analyze audio content. Particle has also introduced a paid tier, Particle+, offering advanced AI summaries and personalized audio features as part of its monetization strategy.
