OpenAI announced that more than 1 million business customers are now paying for its services through ChatGPT for Work or direct model usage on its developer platform. The company said enterprise momentum is tied to widespread consumer familiarity with ChatGPT, which sees over 800 million weekly users. OpenAI now has more than 7 million ChatGPT for Work seats, up 40 percent in two months, with ChatGPT Enterprise seats growing nine-fold year over year.

To support expanded deployments, OpenAI introduced company knowledge for GPT-5-based reasoning across workplace tools, faster adoption of its Codex model for code automation, and AgentKit for building enterprise agents. The company is also advancing multimodal systems for text, images, video, and voice.

OpenAI highlighted customer use cases that demonstrate measurable returns, including improvements in hiring efficiency at Indeed, in-store AI guidance at Lowe’s, and accelerated development cycles at Intercom. The company said organizations such as Canva, Figma, Spotify, and major retailers are building applications directly on its platform. OpenAI expects continued growth as businesses develop new AI-powered workflows and products heading into 2026.
