OpenAI has acquired Software Applications, Inc., the developer of Sky, an AI-powered interface designed to work seamlessly across Mac applications. Sky functions as an intelligent assistant that can understand context, view on-screen content, and take actions across apps—extending AI into everyday computer use.

The startup was founded by Ari Weinstein, Conrad Kramer, and Kim Beverett, former Apple engineers best known for creating Workflow, which Apple acquired and turned into Shortcuts. Their new product Sky aimed to reimagine desktop productivity before joining OpenAI to scale the concept globally.

While deal terms were not disclosed, Sky had raised $6.5 million from investors including Sam Altman and Dylan Field. The acquisition signals OpenAI’s growing focus on agentic AI systems and consumer integration beyond ChatGPT.
