Mistral AI said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Paris-area cloud computing startup Koyeb for an undisclosed amount, marking its first acquisition as it expands into full-stack AI infrastructure. Koyeb provides serverless cloud services, and its 13 employees and three co-founders will join Mistral following the deal.
Mistral said the acquisition advances its goal of building integrated AI capabilities spanning models, infrastructure, and deployment. Koyeb is registered in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris and focuses on simplifying cloud deployment for developers without managing servers.
The deal follows a period of rapid expansion for Mistral, which was valued at $11.7 billion in September after Dutch chipmaking equipment supplier ASML became a shareholder. The company is widely regarded as Europe’s largest AI startup.
The acquisition also comes as Mistral steps up investment in physical infrastructure. The company recently announced plans to invest €1.2 billion in AI data centers and digital infrastructure in Sweden, part of a broader strategy to keep AI compute, cloud services, and data sovereignty anchored in Europe as competition with U.S.-based rivals intensifies.
