Mem0, a San Francisco-based startup founded by Taranjeet Singh, has raised $24 million to build what it calls the “memory layer for AI.” The round includes $20 million in Series A funding led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, Peak XV Partners, and several prominent angel investors including Dharmesh Shah and Scott Belsky.

Mem0’s open source API allows AI applications to retain long-term context across chats, agents, and tools — solving one of the key limitations of large language models. Singh describes the product as a “memory passport” that travels with users across platforms, similar to how logins or emails work today.

The framework has quickly gained traction among developers, surpassing 41,000 GitHub stars and 13 million Python package downloads. Mem0 handled over 186 million API calls in Q3 2025, growing about 30% month over month as more AI developers integrate persistent memory into their systems.
