Google announced that it has begun rolling out Gemini to the Google TV Streamer, officially replacing Google Assistant. The update enables users to interact with their TV through more conversational and context-aware voice commands, powered by Google’s advanced Gemini AI models.

With Gemini, users can ask natural questions such as “I like dramas but my wife likes comedies — what’s a movie we can watch together?” or “What happened at the end of Outlander last season?” Beyond entertainment, Gemini can answer general questions, guide DIY projects, or explain educational topics, integrating responses with YouTube and other Google services.

The rollout applies to users aged 18 and older and will complete over the next few weeks. Gemini had previously launched on select TCL and Hisense smart TVs and is also available on the Walmart Onn 4K Pro streaming device.

The shift is part of Google’s broader plan to replace Assistant with Gemini across all products, following earlier announcements at CES 2025.
