OpenAI has improved ChatGPT’s voice mode by integrating it directly into the chat interface, removing the need for a separate screen. Users can now speak to the AI and see responses, including text, images, and maps, appear in real time within the same conversation.
Previously, ChatGPT’s voice mode required switching to a separate interface with an animated blue circle, which only allowed users to hear responses without seeing them. The update enables more natural interactions, letting users review previous messages and visuals while conversing. Users can still switch back to text at any time by tapping “end” or revert to the original separate voice interface via “Settings” under “Voice Mode.”
The new voice mode is the default across ChatGPT’s web and mobile apps, enhancing usability and making it easier to move seamlessly between voice and text during conversations. This change aligns with OpenAI’s ongoing efforts to make AI communication more interactive and accessible.
