Anthropic has released findings from a large-scale global study examining how users perceive and interact with artificial intelligence. The research collected responses from more than 80,000 participants across 159 countries and 70 languages, making it one of the most extensive qualitative AI studies to date.
Participants were interviewed using a customized version of Claude designed to conduct structured, conversational surveys. The system asked consistent core questions while adapting follow-ups based on user responses, enabling both scale and depth in data collection.
Anthropic used AI-based classifiers to analyze the responses, categorizing user expectations, concerns, and sentiment. The findings highlight a growing demand for practical, real-world benefits from AI, alongside concerns about misuse, reliability, and unintended consequences.
The study emphasizes a shift in public discourse from abstract debates about AI risks to more grounded perspectives shaped by everyday usage. It also reflects increasing global engagement with AI tools across diverse industries and demographics.
Anthropic stated that all responses were anonymized and reviewed to protect user privacy, with selected insights and quotes curated for broader publication.
