Atlassian is expanding its artificial intelligence strategy with the launch of “Agents in Jira,” a feature that enables enterprises to assign tasks to AI agents directly within Jira. The update allows teams to manage digital agents from the same dashboard used for human employees.
The feature lets users assign tickets, track progress, and set deadlines for AI agents, mirroring existing workflows. Enterprises can also introduce agents into ongoing projects, providing visibility into both human and machine contributions. The release is available in open beta.
Tamar Yehoshua said the goal is to integrate AI agents into established collaboration systems rather than adding disconnected automation tools. By centralizing oversight, Atlassian aims to reduce operational complexity as organizations scale AI deployments.
The move reflects broader enterprise efforts to measure AI return on investment. By comparing agent and human output within a single system, companies may better determine where automation improves productivity and where human oversight remains essential. Atlassian said additional AI integrations are planned across its product portfolio.
