Anthropic said its recent Super Bowl advertising campaign has driven a surge in adoption of its Claude chatbot, lifting the app into the top 10 on the U.S. App Store for the first time. Claude climbed from No. 41 to No. 7 within days of the ads airing, its highest ranking to date.

Data from market intelligence firm Appfigures shows Claude recorded an estimated 148,000 U.S. downloads across iOS and Android from Sunday through Tuesday, a 32% increase from the prior three-day period. Average daily downloads over that span rose to about 49,200, compared with a typical average of roughly 37,400.

The ads coincided with Anthropic’s release of its Opus 4.6 model and emphasized Claude’s lack of in-app advertising, positioning it against rivals such as ChatGPT, which recently introduced ads for free users. The combination appears to have increased visibility for Claude’s consumer app.

Claude initially struggled to gain traction after its mobile debut in May 2024, trailing competitors in downloads and rankings. While global installs also increased last week, Appfigures said growth outside the U.S. was more modest.
