Google has introduced an experimental email-based productivity assistant called CC as part of its Google Labs program, continuing its push to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday workflows. The assistant is powered by Gemini and is designed to help users manage tasks, schedules, and information through email rather than a standalone app.
CC connects to consumer Google accounts, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, to generate a daily email titled “Your Day Ahead.” The message summarizes upcoming calendar events, highlights tasks, and surfaces relevant updates drawn from connected services. Users can also email CC directly to add to-dos, save notes, set preferences, or request information searches.
The assistant is currently available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. and Canada who are 18 or older. Google said CC is limited to consumer accounts and does not yet support Workspace users, indicating an early-stage test rather than a full enterprise rollout.
Google’s experiment follows similar efforts across the AI sector to deliver productivity insights through email. Startups such as Mindy, Read AI, and Fireflies provide daily summaries, while newer tools aggregate data from calendars, email, and documents to reduce manual planning. The launch also comes as Google recently unveiled a more powerful version of its Gemini Deep Research agent, expanding autonomous research capabilities for developers and introducing a new benchmark to evaluate multi-step web research agents.
