Amazon has launched Alexa Podcasts, a new AI-powered feature inside Alexa+ that generates personalized podcast-style audio episodes based on topics users request conversationally.

The feature allows Alexa+ users in the United States to create custom audio content covering news, education, hobbies, travel, professional development, and other areas of interest. Users simply ask Alexa about a topic, after which the assistant gathers relevant information, proposes an episode structure, and generates a narrated audio recording using AI-generated host voices.

According to Amazon, the system can conversationally adjust episode length, direction, and focus before generating the final audio. Once completed, episodes become available through Echo Show devices and the Alexa mobile app, where users can stream or revisit generated content later.

The launch builds on Alexa+’s expanded information infrastructure and publishing partnerships. Amazon said Alexa+ now integrates content from major media organizations including Reuters, the Associated Press, The Washington Post, TIME, Forbes, Business Insider, Politico, USA Today, and publishers including Condé Nast, Hearst, and Vox. The platform also includes content from more than 200 local U.S. newspapers.

Amazon is positioning the feature as a way to transform large volumes of information into conversational audio lessons tailored to individual interests. Suggested use cases include creating explainers about historical events, generating sports recaps, preparing for travel destinations, learning new hobbies, or building professional knowledge during commutes.

The company said users could request episodes about topics ranging from the Apollo missions and shooting stars to pickleball strategy, drone photography, or leadership techniques. The system is designed to reduce friction around consuming educational and informational content by packaging it into an on-demand audio format.

The Push Toward Personalized AI Media

Alexa Podcasts arrives amid wider competition among technology companies to build AI-powered assistants capable of generating personalized content dynamically. AI firms are rapidly expanding beyond text chatbots into audio, video, and multimodal experiences tailored to individual preferences and routines.

Amazon said the current release is only an early step toward broader personalized audio capabilities. The company is exploring additional features including AI-generated news briefings and custom audio built from user-provided documents and information.

It also follows Amazon’s recent launch of Alexa for Shopping, a generative AI assistant that combines Alexa+, Rufus, and customer shopping history to provide personalized product recommendations, price tracking, and automated purchasing across Amazon’s app, website, and Echo Show devices.
